We found out yesterday that Flogging Molly would be playing a show in Ljubljana tonight. The show wasn’t sold out, but in my usual fashion, I figured I’d just show up and hope to score some tickets by luck.
While we stood outside the venue waiting for the show to start, I recognized the bass guitar player, Nathen, talking to a couple of people. I went up to him to say hi and tell him I’ve been a fan for many years. He shook my hand and seemed really easy going and said “Thanks for being a fan”. I told him we didn’t have tickets yet, and without hesitation he said “I’ll put you on the band’s guest list”.
He pulled out his phone, asked me my name, and sent a message to the box office. He said if for some reason we couldn’t pick up our tickets at the box office, he would personally escort us in. We chatted for a few minutes and then he told us he’d wait there for us while we go to check if our tickets were ready. So we went in, and sure enough, our names were on the guest list and we got our tickets.
We went back out to tell him everything was good, and after we chatted for a while longer he pulled out his phone to check the time, and said “Shit, we’re on in five minutes! Gotta go.”
So we went in and broke it down with Flogging Molly!
Best ticket score ever.
