Hola Todos!

Well, I’m in Cancun… My flights were a mess. 🙂 My flight out of Las Vegas was delayed by only 20 minutes, but there was quite bad weather in Houston, so we circled in a holding pattern above Houston for about an hour. Needless to say, when we finally landed, my Cancun flight had already left. Continental was very accommodating, and put me up in a hotel for the night, and paid for a couple of meals. …but it was still Houston, not Cancun. 🙂 I did manage to get on an early flight this morning, and have been here roaming around the city for several hours. I found a great hostel that is cheap ($11/night), clean, and quiet. It’s quite close to some of the action in the city centre of Cancún, and there are frequent buses to the “Zona Hotellera” along the beach. I might stay here for a day or two before I head south to Tulum.

Oh yeah, I wanted to comment on the absolutely messed up priorities of the Airport Security. They are SO focussed on preventing liquids from getting aboard the planes, that they forget to actually look for things that matter. For example, They took a can of apple juice from me in Houston, they took my toothpaste in Calgary, and yet a pair of folding sissors in my first aid kit didn’t raise an eyebrow, and a very pointy set of tweezers,( which was right beside my toothpaste) were left with me to carry on the planes. Dumb asses!

It’s hot here, and I have some exploring to do. Talk to you soon!

Cheers, Russ
