While stopped in Horta for some necessary boat repairs, we had some time to explore the island. One day I hiked up to a viewpoint above town – the Miradouro do Monte Carneiro. The view of Pico Island from there was really impressive.
Pico itself is an absolutely massive volcano. It stands 2351 meters above sea level and is the highest mountain in Portugal.
