The powerful Gullfoss can be visited from both sides of the river. This photo is taken from the west side.
The scale and power of this waterfall is impressive and we had to wear our rain jackets to get up close where the mist was being blown at us by a strong wind.
The lower tier of Gullfoss pours into a narrow canyon. You can see the heavy mist that soaked us as we walked along the trail past this part of the waterfall.
