At their highest point, The Cliffs of Moher are a vertical 214 meter drop to the either rocky shoreline or directly into the sea. The cliffs stretch for 8 km. along Atlantic coast South of Gallway Bay.
If you think you recognize them, you may be right. The famous scene in the movie, The Princess Bride, where Fezik the Giant is climbing the rope up The Cliffs of Insanity while carrying Vizzini (the Sicilian), Inigo Montoya (you killed my father, prepare to die), and Princess Buttercup, all while being pursued by the mysterious Man in Black. It’s a great movie and worth a watch if you haven’t seen it yet. But I’m getting off topic…
