Our tour guide for the day ensured us that the steep climb up to the ruins of the ancient castle, Angelokastro, would be rewarded with an incredible view. She was right. This photo is looking southeast over the little bays and beaches of Palaiokastritsa which have an interesting history.
The village of Palaiokastritsa is on the northwestern side of Corfu island. Corfu is considered by many to be the mythical island of the Phaeacians, and the bay of Palaiokastritsa is the place where Odysseus landed and met Nausicaa for the first time.
