For being the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Iceland, and indeed, all of Europe, Dettifoss is hidden where you really wouldn’t expect a waterfall of this size. To give some scale you can see people on the opposite shore standing at the brink of the fall.
When we visited Dettifoss the wind was blowing hard which pushed the mist downstream and into the sun creating spectacular rainbows.
