I first learned of Plitvice Lakes National Park from a website showing photos of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, and knew immediately that I had to visit. I’m a sucker for beautiful waterfalls, and there is no shortage here at Plitvice.
Not only is this a Croatian national treasure, but it’s also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The site is a series of translucent emerald coloured lakes separated by hundreds of waterfalls cascading over moss covered rocks. Wooden boardwalks allow visitors to explore the park from many different vantage points, and a ring road gets you up high for a beautiful overview of the whole area.
If you’re in the area, Plitvice is not to be missed!
